Heat Removal

  • As inlet temperature is increased, heat removal must be increased.

 

  • For any given inlet temperature, increased heat removal results in increased conversion.

 

 

 

 

Conversion & Exit Temperature

  • Because the reaction is exothermic, lower temperatures result in higher conversions.
  • This relationship can be predicted with Le Chatelier's Principle.
  • This plot corresponds with the one above - higher conversions mean a lower exit temperature and therefore necessitate greater heat removal
