Suggested problems Fall 1999

All problem numbers are from Tipler 4th edition. Please do try the highlighted or conceptual problems in each section also.

The problems are listed so that 3-8 means problem 8 from the end of chapter 3.

Note that unlike for the Pledged problems, for these suggested problems we strongly encourage you to get as much help as you need to be able to do them -- from fellow students, in tutorial sessions, from your instructors, or other sources.

Those who wish to turn these problems in for credit should do so by 2pm on the due date in the mailboxes marked Phys101/102 in the Physics Lounge.

  • Simple harmonic motion: Chapter 14-11,26,42,65,107,119,122.

    These are NOT due at any time, but you might want to look at them.

  • Rotation 2 and statics: Chapter 9-92, 96, 125, Chapter 10-23,36,40,54, Chapter 12-22,34,44, Due 2 pm, 12.3.99

    These are more suggested problems than usual, to accomodate the wider range of topics. On the other hand, it still feels like there are far too few from Chapter 10 and 12 in any case. Comments etc appreciated.
