Course Format Bios 202

Lectures (3 days a week) cover material that overlaps with yet is complementary to the text. Students are expected to come to lecture with a working understanding of the assigned reading material from the textbook (see below). Unless told otherwise, students will be responsible for all material covered in lecture. Most lectures will include interactive discussions involving student response systems (“clickers”), as well as PowerPoint slides and/or video clips; lecture slides will be posted on Owl Space but will generally provide only an outline of the material and are therefore not a replacement for attending lecture (video clips will not be available online).

Students will be assigned to a discussion session that will meet during class time eight times over the course of the semester. Participation is expected for all in-class Discussion Sessions and is required for a passing grade.

Grading is based on online quizzes, exams, and class participation (see current syllabus for more details).
