We want you to prepare for class by reading the assigned material and thinking about it. Reading should not be a passive activity. How many times have you been reading something and suddenly realized that you had no idea what you had just been reading? The way to avoid this happening is to read very actively taking notes not only about what it says, but also notes about your thoughts as you read it. If you do this, you will come to class much more able to participate and contribute.
