The Dancer

Nadhi Bharatanatyam

Nadhi Thekkek

Nadhi Thekkek started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 5 in San Jose, California from Smt. Sundara Swaminathan (graduate of Kalakshetra). She was always enthralled by the dramatic productions her guru put on, and even participated in many of them growing up (Krishna The Enchanter, Lord of Dance, Tales of Temple Dance, Reflections). She loved working with different orchestra, learning new items, and working with other dedicated artists. Her true passion for the art, however, developed during her preparation for her arangetram, or solo dance debut.

Since then, Nadhi has been itching to learn more and more about the art and strives to build on her strong foundation from Kala Vandana. Career opportunities brought her to Houston, where she had the opportunity to work with Smt. Padmini Chari (disciple of Padma Sri Adyar K. Lakshman and Padma Bushan Kalanidhi Narayanan). Ms. Chari is mentor and guide to Nadhi as she continues to grow as a dancer. With Nritya School of Dance she continues to perform, choreograph, and teach.

She currently teaches beginner students, develops and teaches adavu workshops for senior students, and contributes to Nritya choreography. Feel free to contact her for more information regarding these activities.

Nadhi performs regularly; for performance requests, please contact her via e-mail.
