Missy and Logan's Wedding

Sunday, September 3rd, 1995

In front of about 150 people at the University of Houston Chapel, I had a dream come true - I finally married my sweetheart of 6 years. Take a look, or click here to read a summary of the day:

This is the top of our invitation, which we slaved over ourselves. We purchased the paper from Paper Direct and printed everything on a 600 dpi Apple LaserWriter, then added gold foil for a personal touch. To see the whole invitation, click on the image to your left.

This was my "Man of Honor," Pat Morrow, and his beautiful wife, Sharon. They are both currently studying for their PhD in Physics at UT-Austin . Pat, a Lovett grad, is my best friend from Rice.

Here's me and my husband, Logan Ratner. For those who don't know him well, we met at Rice through mutual acquaintances when he was a freshman NROTC nerd at Jones and I was a Wiess junior. We were both members of the MOB , and later Rice Hillel. He now works for the CRPC here at Rice.

The whole wedding ensemble. From left to right: Barry Scarbrough, my brother Joseph Martinez, Logan's brother Jacob Ratner, Logan, me, Pat Morrow, Dr. Sarah Edmonson, Sarah Kendall, and Nicole Roberts. Not pictured is PFC Andy Lustfield, who couldn't get leave.

We had a fairly traditional Jewish ceremony , which proved to be educational for all (neither Logan nor I had ever been to a Jewish wedding, and certainly not MY family!) This photo shows us and the Rabbi under the chuppah, surrounded by friends and family, when Logan got to kiss his bride. Sorry, the photo of Logan breaking the glass wasn't clear enough to scan.

Isn't he sweet!

Our reception had a Disney theme. Since we couldn't leave for a DisneyWorld honeymoon right away, we brought DisneyWorld to us. Figurines from most of the Disney movies adorned the tables, and Cinderella played in the corner for the kids (especially us BIG kids). The first dance was to When You Wish Upon A Star. Our centerpiece was a 3-D puzzle of Cinderella's Castle. What do you think of our cake?

Of course, the day was really made special by the people who celebrated it with us. These are old friends from Wiess College (and some extras). From left to right: Top row: Marc Kossover ('91), Russell Cloessner (too many to count), me, Logan, Sarah ('92) and Chris Ryan ('87). Bottom Row: Victoria, Steve Eichner ('91), Nancy, Tami Phillips.

And of course, the MOB, both past and present, was in attendance, too (minus instruments). From left to right, Top row: Alice, Keith Bourque, Logan, me again, Eric Weimer, Jodi Daugherty, Jeremy Mills. Bottom Row: Sharon Casteel, Laureen and Kevin Jones, Roger Cole, Jenni Hurley.
