Elbow Fixator

The external Elbow Fixator (mechanical hinge) was designed for cases of severe elbow trauma. The Fixator relieves the elbow of stresses, while allowing the elbow to retain its mobility as it heals. Prolonged immobilization of the elbow, often associated with a cast, can result in a loss of motion. In addition to eliminating the immobility of a cast, the Fixator leaves the skin exposed making possible curative treatments for burns or other skin damage.

The Fixator consists of carefully located pins anchored in the ulna and humerus bones. A system of connectors of the pins provides the necessary hinge action and provides for the adjustments needed for the alignment of the hinge axis with that of the natural elbow axis.
