Applying for an account on Owlnet

Most students apply for an owlnet account during freshman week. If for some reason you missed this, then you can apply online. Go to the Online Application System and follow the instructions. Once you have your account number, account name, and password, you can log into Owlnet. You can find more information about this on the web. A good place to start is the Owlnet Information web page.

Registering your account in Math 211

One of the first things you should do after logging in to your account is to register for Math 211. You do this with the command

                         register math211
This will enable you to access the software that is specially written for this course. However, you will have to log out and log back in before this will happen.

Registering for Math 211 in this way will also ensure you that you will get the Message of the Day for this course. You will find these informative while you are taking the course. However, you will continue to get them even after you have finished the course, unless you enter

                         drop math211
at the UNIX prompt.
