Welcome to the Cell and Protein Engineering Research Laboratory at Rice University!

Our research focuses on cellular protein folding, particularly on the molecular determinants of human protein misfolding diseases, such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and lysosomal storage disorders. Our ultimate goal is engineering the cellular quality control system for the development of therapeutics for protein misfolding diseases. 

Our laboratory is involved in both fundamental and applied research   and it is highly multi-disciplinary, working at the interface of cell and molecular biology and chemical engineering.
