What is VIGRE at Rice? See the VIGRE homepage for an explanation of the VIGRE program.

What is "Geometric Calculus of Variations"? In this PFUG, we will study geometric objects by defining a functional, which quantitatively measures those objects. By minimizing this functional, we will describe a property that we wish our geometric objects to have. Hence, our task will be to search for objects which minimize our functional, and then study the properties of these minimizers.
