About Me

Kyle Barnhart, what a cutie!!

I'm Kyle Barnhart: Author, dreamweaver, visionary, plus actor. Presently, I'm a student at Rice University in Houston, Texas, trying to become a well-versed, diploma-wielding electrical engineer. While my academic interests range from sociology to quantum mechanics, my personal interests are much more diverse. I'm a gamer, a web developer, an audiophile, a musician, a DJ, a gonzo journalist, a movie buff, a television addict, and Internet junkie.

You can contact me at my Rice e-mail address, which is barnhart@, followed by rice.edu.

confused nation
Since 2001, I've maintained Confused Nation as a sort of blog and e/n site of my own design. It's currently sitting on Blogger, because I'm a busy and poor college student.

follow me on twitter
I've recently become sucked into the 140-character phenomenon that is Twitter. Now you can follow my every nuance, thought, and tiny rant by clicking the link above.

I've been using last.fm to track my tracks for over five years. Browse through my profile to get a sense of my weird and indie taste in tunes.

Things I've written for the Thresher
Inflate my ego and (hopefully) entertain yourself by checking out things I've published in Rice's student-run magazine, the Thresher. I think the Waffle House article is my favorite. I also ran the Backpage (the satire section of the paper) with Tim Faust for a month during 2008. Best month of my life. I'll be returning as the co-editor along with with Cristina Tortarolo in 2009-2010.

Things I've written for Connexions
I'm currently working for Connexions as a community development specialist and technical expert on MathML and other markup languages. Connexions is a free educational content provider, allowing teachers to build "modules" and share them among each other to build "collections," essentially free textbooks. Part of my job is writing instructions and tutorials for our content providers, so expect more from me as time goes on.
