Professor Padgett’s interests lie primarily in the protection of civil infrastructure and structural systems from extreme events and provision for a sustainable built environment. Her research focuses on the application of reliability and probabilistic methods for risk assessment of structures and lifeline systems; earthquake engineering including seismic design, analysis, and retrofit of bridges; use of smart materials for bridge retrofit; protection of critical infrastructure exposed to multiple hazards; and quantification of the sustainability of built systems.
