Office Hours: Mondays 1-2 PM and Tuesdays 2-3 PM or by appointment.

Course Description: The main goals of this course will be to develop and practice more advanced methods of computing integrals, to study sequences and series, and to explore polar coordinates and parametric equations.

Textbook: Calculus Early Transcendentals, 6th Edition, Edwards and Penney, Prentice Hall; i.e. the book you used for Math 101.

Grading: Your final course grade will be 30% homework, two midterm exams at 20% each, and the final exam for 30%.

Homework: Weekly homework will be due each Wednesday by 3 PM in the Math 102, Section 2 homework box on the second floor of Herman Brown (next to HB 220). Homework solutions should be clear and legible, and each problem should be worked out in detail with the final answer clearly indicated. Assignments should be stapled, and your name, your section number, and the assignment should appear on the front page. Assignments will be announced in class and also posted online. Please work with other students in the class when solving the homework problems, but write them up on your own. Homework is not pledged. To receive credit for homework, it must be handed in on time. In case of a legitimate conflict, you may see me beforehand to make appropriate arrangements. No late homework will be accepted. Instead, your lowest homework score will be dropped. Homework help sessions run by the TAs will be scheduled soon.

Exams: There will be two in-class, fifty-minute midterm exams and one comprehensive final exam. All exams will be closed book and closed notes with no calculator. The date of the final exam is not yet available; please do not make your summer travel arrangements until after the final exam date is announced – requests to reschedule the final exam are usually denied.

Attendance: While your attendance does not factor into your final grade, it is vital that you attend class. I will maintain the course website, but it is your responsibility to stay informed of announcements made in class.

Honor Code: You are expected to abide by the Rice Honor Code. Please visit http://honor.rice.edu/ and read the Student Handbook. I will remind you of all of the exact rules prior to the first midterm.

Accommodations: Any student with a documented disability needing academic adjustments or accommodations is requested to speak with me during the first two weeks of class. All discussions will remain confidential. Students with disabilities should also contact Disability Support Services in the Ley Student Center.
