About the Rice University Consortium

History

The Consortium for Processes in Porous Media began after Shell and Schlumberger purchased and donated a MARAN 2 NMR spectrometer in 1995.

Areas of research presented at the 1st meeting on October 31, 1996 were:
Surfactant/foam processes for EOR and aquifer remediation
Wettability
NMR: properties of fluids and rocks
We had 4 students, one staff, the faculty were George Hirasaki and Clarence Miller.
