The applications of this project are numerous. The ability to derive depth information from two separate images allows the translation of the results into an actual three dimensional rendering of a scene.

There are a number of things we would have liked to work on and expand upon given the chance which would allow us to derive more accurate results.

i) Applying multiscaling to the cross correlations. Much like the theory in edge detection, by applying the cross correlation to the image pair, and many low passed versions of the image pairs, we can derive a more accurate depth while eliminating extraneous impulses.

ii) Applying the cross correlations in more complicated algorithms, such as color information, which inherently yields more information for us to derive depth.

iii) Applying more complex algorithms to find the peaks that is more specific to the application of stereovision that our present definition for peaks may not be able to do.

iv) Apply more complex algorithms to derive contours, as well as depth information, on objects from the shading of the images.
