Fractals
No precise definition , a set F is said to be Fractal if:
- it has detail at every scale
- it is (exactly, approximately or statistically) self similar
- it can be generated by a simple algorithm
Origins of Fractal geometry traced to paper by B.Mandelbrot “the Fractal Geometry of Nature”,1977
Traditional geometry doesn’t resemble geometry of natural images
Computer scientists found a mathematics capable of generating artificial and yet realistic looking forms
