Research

My background is in geology and petrology, but I also have a passion for regional-scale tectonics, especially of the Western USA (and other places).  Thus I strive to link the micron-scale (petrology) to the kilometer-scale (geology, tectonics).

My current research focuses on the origin and evolution of continental arc lithosphere.  I look at lower crustal and mantle xenoliths to decipher the processes responsible for generating and thickening lithosphere beneath the Sierra Nevada, CA.
