Synopsis:

The course is an introduction to the principles of computing and programming. It covers the principles of program design, the rules of program evaluation, the organization of a computer, machine-oriented programming languages, and an overview of computer science.

COMP 210 is oriented primarily towards computer science majors but is suitable for both engineering and non-engineering students. It does not assume any prior programming or computer science experience and is appropriate for freshmen. Together with Intermediate Programming (COMP 212), the course provides a thorough introduction to computing.
