Go to
ftp://updates.rice.edu/pub/antivirus/datfiles/4.x
and download the latest dat zip file - it should be of the form
dat-XXXX.zip
.
Extract the file, and take the
clean.dat
,
names.dat
, and
scan.dat
files.
Take an old
av.cab
from a previous CD, extract it, and replace the above files with their new versions.
Make a new
av.cab
using
cabsdk
for Windows, or
cablinux
for Linux.
Copy the rest of the files from the old CD (I believe
bootcat.bin
and
bootimg.bin
are the only important ones).
Download a new copy of
current-signatures.exe
from
ftp://updates.rice.edu/pub/antivirus/current-signatures.exe
- this should, when run, update the virus signatures if the user doesn't have access to the network (not tested!)
Record the CD, making it bootable from
bootimg.bin
. In Linux, the cdrecord command line I use is:
mkisofs -o viruscd.iso -l -J -R -b bootimg.bin -c boot.catalog virusmake/
