• Go to ftp://updates.rice.edu/pub/antivirus/datfiles/4.x and download the latest dat zip file - it should be of the form dat-XXXX.zip.
  • Extract the file, and take the clean.dat, names.dat, and scan.dat files.
  • Take an old av.cab from a previous CD, extract it, and replace the above files with their new versions.
  • Make a new av.cab using cabsdk for Windows, or cablinux for Linux.
  • Copy the rest of the files from the old CD (I believe bootcat.bin and bootimg.bin are the only important ones).
  • Download a new copy of current-signatures.exe from ftp://updates.rice.edu/pub/antivirus/current-signatures.exe - this should, when run, update the virus signatures if the user doesn't have access to the network (not tested!)
  • Record the CD, making it bootable from bootimg.bin. In Linux, the cdrecord command line I use is:

    mkisofs -o viruscd.iso -l -J -R -b bootimg.bin -c boot.catalog virusmake/
