Bioengineering Design at Rice University

 

 

An opportunity for students to tackle and solve
a design problem in bioengineering.

 

Course Format:

  • Senior year-long course
  • Teams of 4 or 5 students work on one problem for the whole year taking it from design problem formulation to prototyping and testing
    • Generate a design solution to a biomedical problem
    • Teams build a prototype of the device
    • Test and prove that their device is effective
  • Along the way the teams also
    • Develop business and marketing plans
    • Learn about historical biomedical failures to avoid
    • Study ethical issues that they may face in their careers
    • Develop a business and marketing plan for their devices.
