Work-Family

I am currently working on a Master’s Thesis that will communicate work-family balance information through a realistic job preview. This research sampled over 700 male and female doctoral students and postdocs applying for jobs in academia. In the first wave of the study, participants were exposed to a realistic job preview video. Some people saw a realistic job preview about work-family balance in academia, some saw a realistic job preview about job characteristics in academia, and other did not see a realistic job preview. After watching the video, participants answered some questions about what they saw and how it made them feel.

A few months later, I contacted participants again and followed up with their job choices. The intent of this research was for individuals to change their behaviors with this new information.
