Brief Biography

Ali Israr received his Master and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2004 and 2007, respectively. His research area has been focused on haptics and haptic interfaces with emphasis on sensory substitution, psychophysical human testing, device and controller design, and human interactions in real and virtual environments. He has shown great command in areas, like Design, Robotics, Dynamical Systems & Controls, and Mechatronics. He has published in technical arenas of Design, Robotics, Acoustics, and Haptics. He has chaired/co-chaired numerous conference sessions and reviewed articles for reputed conferences and journals.  He has been involved with research and teaching activities that earned him the Magoon Award for excellence in teaching in 2005. He has worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces laboratory at Rice University between 2007 and 2009, and will join Disney Research at Pittsburgh in October 2009.

 

 

 

Research Interests

Applied psychophysics, control systems, haptics and haptic interfaces, tactile feedback, human motor systems, robotics, human factors and human-machine interaction, mechanical design, transducers and actuators.
