Research Problem

Old TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) became ETS's valuable assessment assets ever since the new TOEFL was launched. Therefore it is meaningful to explore approaches to reuse these assets.

Solution - Procedure

Reviewed the literature of the English grammar instruction -- particulary computer-assisted English grammar instruction Reviewed the adaptive instruction literature and summarized the adaptive features that are implemented in previous research Familarized with the available TOEFL assessment assets at ETS Completed a proposal on how to develop an adaptive learning system of English Grammar, including both macro- and micro- adaptive features. Designed the interfaces of the learning system and programmed the prototype on the client side. Completed a research paper on this project
