Word Importer and Edit-In-Place are intended for users without XML knowledge to create a module in Connexions with ease. However, it is not known whether these tools are actually easy for users. Advanced Search Interface Design

Currelty there is no advanced search available in Connexions website. With the rapid expansion of the content domain in Connexions, it is of great necessity to provide an advanced search to users. Mockups were developed and finalized. Details

 

Search Results Display Interface Redesign

The current search results provide a summary of the number of the results and the details of each search result, but it does not provide a way for users to resort the results and modify the search. The information architecture redesign is to improve the current site content organization. Card sorting and group discussions were applied in this project. Details

 

Help System Redesign (done as a course project)

Computer Menu Design Comparison
2006 summer/fall

This research project investigated the tradeoff between space and usability in menu design. Two experiments were conducted to compare cascading menus and panel menus, which show all submenu items simultaneously in a two-dimensional panel. Both experiments found that panel menus performed faster than cascading menus and that panel menus were preferred to cascading menus when more realistic menu items were used. Online Purchasing Decision
2005 fall, 2006 spring

Textbook-sales websites have enjoyed increasing popularity in both the U.S. and other countries, and are of particular interest to students. However, no study has been done to identify the specific attributes of thesesites that contribute to an ultimate purchasing decision. This study addessed this issue through the application of a lens model approach and the findings were to inform the design of future textbook-sales websites. Details | Full Research Paper (PDF)

e-Grammar
2005 summer

This project was done at ETS, Princeton, NJ. It involved the design of a prototype of anassessment-based learning environment. The learning environment provides a variety of adaptive features. At the macro-adaptive level it adapts to students’ ages, native languages, culturalbackground and initial choice of difficulty levels. At the micro-adaptive level it integrates a Bayesian student model that is used to provide adaptive sequencing and feedback according to students' knowledge level and performance across items.
