Saint-Sernin, Toulouse: Combines basic Romanesque features of rounded arches, barrel or groin
vaults, thick walls, and heavy piers to create a dimly lit, somber, static but calm space.
Amiens Cathedral: Combines basic Gothic features of ribbed vaults, flying buttresses,
pointed arches and a skeletal system(the systematic voiding of the wall surface) to create a light-filled, dynamic, fluid interior space.
