My Photoshop Project

By Matt Drosjack

For my photoshop project I began with the scanned image of a ski resort which is seen below.

Next, I altered the size of the image and cropped out some of the unnecessary margins that I would not be using for the final picture. After this step, I scanned the second image which I would be using which was a shot of from a horse race.

With this shot, I cropped as much as I could and greatly reduced the size of the picture. I then used the polygonal lasso to cut out the horses and the mud piles from the gray background. This layer was placed in the middle of the right side of the snow shot and I faded it out to 50%. This made it blend in with the hazy background of the ski resort and gives the illusion of the horses racing there. I then began working with a shot of a kid, as seen below.

I did a great deal of cropping and once again used the polygonal lasso feature to place a portion of this shot on the ski resort picture. This picture also was reduced to 50%, and gives the viewer the impression that the kid is overlooking the mountain. I then did something which I have no idea how I did it but it made the picture change into what looks like a negative. Below is the final shot with all three components combined together.
